Milo Biscuits

I had never heard of these until about a week ago when my lovely friend Julie of ‘A Slice In The Life Of Julie’ shared the recipe.  They are very simple and oh so yummy – think a nice gooey malty bickie warm out of the oven and a perfect crunchy biscuit cooled (that is if there is any left in your house by the time they cool).  I will admit that I thought they were so good that I have made two batches in the last week and I will also admit that I have had to change Julie’s recipe the tiniest bit because I don’t actually own kitchen scales (I know – gasp!).

125g butter
½ cup white sugar
½ cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
250g self raising flour
cup milo
½ cup chocolate drops

Preheat the oven to 170°C oven (fan bake).  Cream the butter and sugars together until light and fluffy.
Add the egg and vanilla and beat well.  Sift into wet mixture the flour and milo.  Fold together with the chocolate drops.
Roll teaspoons of mixture into balls and place on a lined oven tray.  Bake for about 15 minutes or until lightly golden.

I’m sure if you try them they will become new favourites in your house too.

Thanks for sharing Julie!

  1. Hey girls,

I just made these last night and I think i did something wrong.

When I put in all the dry ingrediants, my mixture was beyond dry. I had to use my beaters just to get all the flour mixed in.

    Any ideas?

  2. Sorry to hear that - these have become a favorite in my house and I have made them using this recipe 4 or 5 times now. If it helps I always have my butter room temperature or a little softer and generally use a size 7 egg. A small egg and hard butter would make the mix drier :-) I hope they turned out okay in the end for you!

  3. Finally Made a Batch of these for the kids Lunch boxes, Came out Great! Thanks Again Aunty Courts

  4. Made these yesterday and they were devine. All the kids loved them and they will be made again very soon!

  5. Good be making these soon my mouth is watering!!

  6. Just baked up a batch of these delicious cookies, only had brown sugar so only used 1/2 cup of brown sugar. They still turned out great :)
